Abstract Title:

OMICS-technology, Nutrition and Mental Health as a Holy Trinity in New Era of Prevention and Management of Metabolic Syndrome

Research Interests:

Metabolic syndrome (MetS) represents a growing global health burden, which forms a cluster of metabolic dysregulations including insulin re-sistance, atherogenic dyslipidemia, central obesity, and hypertension that significantly increase the risk for developing non-communicable diseases (NCD) like cardiovascular diseases (CVD) and diabetes type 2 (T2D). Moreover, neuroendocrine pathways (e.g., HPA axis dysregulation) and inflammatory mechanisms (elevated CRP, IL-6) link psychological stress to metabolic dysfunction. Unfortunately, traditional approaches to MetS management have shown limited long-term efficacy, calling for new precision and integrative strategies based on OMICS-technologies (includ-ing nutrigenetics and nutriogenomics). Integrating psychometric data with the use of OMICS database has begun to uncover shared molecular net-works, promote the way for integrative interventions to holistic health. Lat-est advances in the analysis and monitoring of genetics in connection with dietary habits, food behaviors, physical activity/exercise and deep pheno-typing will be discussed. Finally, we summarize the most recent updates about the prevention and management of this clinical syndrome. Key words: metabolic syndrome, non-communicable diseases, OMICS-technologies, nutrition, holistic health.
